Frequently Asked Questions

Do you accept insurance?

Lone Mountain Psychiatry is a cash-pay practice and does not bill insurance directly. This is done in order to ensure the highest level of care can be provided, with more time than traditional insurance-based practices. You may be able to submit a superbill to your insurance company for possible out-of-network reimbursement.

Will you accept FSA or HSA as forms of payment?

Yes! See "Services and Pricing" for more info on accepted forms of payment.

Are appointments offered virtually?

Yes. Telepsychiatry is available for eligible patients in the state of Nevada, allowing you to receive care from the comfort and privacy of your own home. It is preferred that the initial evaluation is completed in person if possible.

Do you prescribe medication?

Medication management is an important part of the care offered at Lone Mountain Psychiatry when medication is clinically appropriate, and if this is something you are open to considering as part of your treatment.

Do you prescribe controlled substances?

Yes, when appropriate. If you are being seen virtually and taking controlled substances on a routine basis (i.e. adderall, alprazolam etc.) you will need to be seen every three months, and once a year in person per DEA regulations. Please see controlled substance policy for more details.

How often will I need appointments?

There is no one-size-fits-all schedule. Appointment frequency will depend on your individual needs, treatment plan, and how you are doing over time. I will always work with you to make sure the frequency makes sense and is feasible for you.

Do I need to be in therapy?

Psychiatric medication management and psychotherapy are different forms of care. I do not provide psychotherapy, but therapy can be an important part of mental health treatment, and I may recommend or coordinate with a therapist when appropriate.

Do you treat everyone who requests an appointment?

My goal is to make sure Lone Mountain Psychiatry is the right fit for your needs. During the intake process, we’ll determine whether the practice and services offered are appropriate for you.

If you are seeing my child as a patient, do I need to be present during visits?

Yes. For any minor under the age of 18, a parent or guardian will need to be present. It is important that we meet with the child one-on-one for a time, but for each visit the parent/guardian's consent is required. If we are meeting virtually, and you and your child are in two separate locations, we can still meet via the same platform on a group call if necessary.

Do you see family members of existing patients?

Yes. This is completely up to each of the parties in question. All treatment, visits, and correspondence with patients is completely confidential per HIPAA guidelines and will be maintained indefinitely.

Do you do neuropsychological evaluations for Autism Spectrum Disorder?

No. This is a special evaluation, typically completed by a clinical psychologist (PsyD) and would be a separate referral which we are happy to provide.
